"Finding a little gold crank on the side, she twisted it and snuggled back down into bed. As a nostalgic tune plucked itself up from the brass gears hidden inside the porcelain figurines, Caelum lazily nuzzled her nose into her gardenia flower.
A rush of sweet scent bathed each note of the tinkling melody that rose up outta that music box until, note by note, the mundane clutter of her bedroom ceased to hold her at all.
Caelum floated up.
Up out of the deadening grey air of the suffocating Grey House. The dusty walls melted. The sagging ceiling vanished. Up, into a giddy weightlessness of the kind where the sun perpetually set on great stacks of billowing clouds. Up into a vast illuminated expanse that stretched out in all directions all around her. Purples, oranges and pinks glinted off of ornately atmospheric architectures. Castles formed and shifted shape. Ruby caves and azure grottoes materialized, sheltering narwhals and cocooning mermaids. Peacocks pranced and piglets tumbled over billowing archways and across lilac fields. The joy here was lilting and light, and unspeakably kind.
The music swaddled Caelum and the gardenia's sweet scent held gravity and time at bay, and still she floated, and still she took in the ecstatic beauty of a realm built entirely of cloud."
